My StoryHi! I’m Finny! I am a 3 year old female GSD with lots of love and personality to offer. I love to run and play and jump. I enjoy walks and car rides, my dad’s dinner if it is left unattended on the counter, and an occasional icecream. I have a great home where I am loved and all my needs are readily attended to. However, it wasn’t always this way. Before my mom and dad adopted me I lived in a party house of young adults. I was often tied up outside and was secluded to the use of 2 rooms in the house. The inside and the outside of the house smelled of urine and I did too because nobody gave me the attention I deserved. When I told my people I had to go potty they ignored me. I am housebroken but a puppy can only hold it for so long before an accident occurs. My mom had to bath me twice before the smell of urine was no longer on my coat. When they rescued me I only weighed about 60 pounds. For my stature I should have been about 85 pounds. They plumped me up and I last weighed in at a safe 89. Up until my parents rescued me I had not seen a vet…not that I minded but my parents said it was an issue. My first vet appointment didn’t go so well…neither did the second. My first vet did not consider my past that was described to them in detail. I was scared with the unfamiliar smells, place, and all the poking and prodding. Unfortunately the vet didn’t understand how to deal with me and didn’t try to establish a relationship with me so my parents switched me to another vet that is a little more expensive but offers better quality care and who are always sweet to me. They don’t muzzle me or restrain me like the first vet did. They pet me and offer me cookies and reassure me when I get nervous. Now I am up to date on all my shots and happier and healthier than ever. I had some behavioral issues because of my previous neglect that are still being worked on and am currently enrolled in a dog training camp. However, my irregular heat cycles are distracting all the other students and preventing me from participating in my studies. The vet said there is a chance I could be subject to a uterus infection earlier than what is common and that I should get fixed sooner rather than later. Because my parents want what’s best for me they are trying for sooner. Money is a little tight though. My mom is a full time dean’s list student and a waitress. I live with her and the rest of her family. The rest of her family gets annoyed with me because I have excellent hearing. Because the love for me is not shared throughout the entire household, my mom is responsible for all my physical and financial care to ensure that I am always happy, healthy, and comfortable. My dad graduated college as a high honor student and currently lives with his mom but the condo association his home is affiliated with does not allow dogs. My parents tried getting an apartment but I am on the aggressive breed and bite list as because I am a purebred german shepherd. Despite my sweet demeanor, my breed’s reputation offered little housing opportunities for my parents and giving me up was not an option because I am their child and we are a family. My dad is currently trying to improve on our happiness as a family and shopping for a house with his income. It is important that I get spayed sooner rather than later because if I do get an infection my mom said she will have to sell her left lung and my dad an arm and a leg to afford the surgery for the life threatening condition. They need these body parts to keep up with me. Please help me help them.
